Costa Atlantica
On
May 2, 2001, I visited Costa's newest ship the Costa Atlantica.
I was impressed by my first glimpse shown at right and the five
decks of veranda cabins. As you can see, at 960 feet and 85,000
tons, the ship is quite large. But inside the ship does not feel
enormous and is really quite easy to get around. The ship is quite
different than the Costa Victoria I visited a few years ago. The
Victoria was quite sleek and modern while the Atlantica is colorful
and glamorous.
Once
inside the ship there is no mistaking the fact that you are on an
Italian ship. The décor is Italian throughout and the food
and crew have a definite Italian flavor. That's my husband, Richard
in the Café Florian. We had a delicious Italian meal aboard
but of course they have a varied menu as well as alternative dining
restaurants. Costa is famous for its Toga parties on the last night
of the cruise,
There
is a very nice pool area and beautiful public areas. I was especially
impressed by the abundance of beautiful artwork. There are over
400 original works of art throughout the ship.
The
cabins are beautiful. 678 out of a total of 1057 cabins have verandas.
The great value pricing especially impressed me. After coming back
to the office, I decided to take out group space for five sailings
next year. We will soon have details posted on this website of dates
and prices for these groups.
Those of you
who know me know that I have visited and sailed on many ships so
when I say that this ship is one of the best values I have ever
seen, you know it must be good.
